The College of Motion Picture Arts Torchlight Studio Center for Motion Picture Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a hands-on project centered facility whose mission is to light the pathways from education to industry. The Torchlight studios, located just outside of Tallahassee, is dedicated exclusively to advanced and innovative production and post production opportunities for the Alumni, faculty, staff, and students of the Film school. The facility itself boasts specialized classrooms, production offices, a 180-degree virtual production volume, post production suite and a backlot for future stages and design facilities.

Responsibilities

CMPA is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a newly created faculty support position within its Torchlight studios to foster its virtual production programs and provide instructional assistance to other faculty, students, interns, and alumni. This position supervises the day-to-day operations and systems at the Torchlight Studio Facility. This is a Visiting full-time position at the rank of Instructional specialist I and is a 12-month, renewable, non-tenure earning position. Promotion pathways from visiting to regular instructor and to Instructional Specialist II and III.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have practical and professional knowledge of the Unreal game engine and real time rendering applications, the ability to work well in a fluid, changing environment as creative challenges evolve, a passion for teaching and a desire to be part of the creative process involved in developing artists, demonstrate a high level of collaboration and communication skills, an eager willingness to work from the ground up with whatever resources are at hand and the sheer love of creating purpose based practical experiences for artists of all kinds. Most of all, we seek a candidate with a willingness to learn what needs to be learned to grow into this uncharted and exciting new world of movie making.

Experience and knowledge of real time lighting, rendering and texturing for games/visual effects with strong technical computing skills, understanding of internet protocol networking, 3d environments, asset creation/management, scripting/coding and related 3d software and their applications. Working knowledge of Maya, Unreal Engine, and the Substance suite of tools (Designer, Painter, and Sampler). At the core, you must be able to light/texture and optimize realistic Realtime rendering inside Unreal.

Software Knowledge Requirements: Unreal Engine, Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer and Substance Sampler

Education and/or Professional Equivalent Qualifications: The highest terminal degree related to computer technology and/or equivalent qualifications based on profession experience.

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary begins at $85,000.00 and scales commensurate with experience.
