A new standalone application brings real-time compositing, color fidelity, and creative control to LED wall content pipelines.

Foundry, the developer of industry-standard creative tools for visual effects and post-production, has announced Nuke Stage, a new application purpose-built for virtual production and in-camera visual effects (ICVFX).
Designed to unify the creative process from pre-production to final pixels, Nuke Stage provides a complete pipeline for real-time playback, live compositing, and precise color management on LED volumes—allowing teams to iterate quickly and confidently deliver photorealistic results.

The new solution supports real-time playback of photorealistic environments on LED walls and live compositing and layout. It enables production teams to work in familiar, industry-standard formats like OpenUSD, OpenEXR, and OpenColorIO within a node-based environment consistent with the Nuke toolset.

Through shared color management, open file formats, and a familiar node-graph UI, Nuke Stage allows VFX artists to create, refine, and deliver content that flows naturally from previs to principal photography—all the way through to final delivery.

Nuke Stage was envisioned specifically for virtual production, bringing key aspects of compositing tailored for realtime playback in an on set environment, and utilizing open standards to ensure consistency between pre-production, on set, and post.
Our hope is that Nuke Stage brings the expertise of VFX artists even closer to creative decision making, and, ultimately, delivers greater efficiencies for productions using Virtual Production and ICVFX. After years of development fueled by collaboration with the VFX and VP community, I can’t wait to see Nuke Stage in the hands of artists!
